This document is basic model for digital preservation that can be applied to a wide variety of situations, different institutions and clearly defines the basic categories, called entities, of activities or policies that are essential for solid practices.

		+	This model will be helpful for figuring out what services are appropriate for CARLI to offer to member libraries and what elements the member libraries should take more responsibility for.

		+	3 services that look very appropriate for CARLI to provide are in the Data Management and Archival Storage entity.

		+	2) Minimal preservation metadata including file format, format registry information, encoding information

		+	There are several other services that some of our surveyed libraries want but I think are un-essential for digital preservation or fall out-side the scope of CARLI's role in this project. Some examples include migration services, and discovery systems. These two services are important, but should be handled by each repository on individually due to the unique needs of each institution.
